Our Community

At Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility (WPSR), our community is united by a shared commitment to building a healthier, safer, and more just world. Physicians, health professionals, scientists, advocates, and volunteers from across Washington State work together to protect human health and promote social responsibility.

Our Shared Commitment

WPSR’s strength comes from the diversity, passion, and dedication of our community. Together, we advocate for:

  • Protecting public health through strong environmental and climate policies

  • Reducing economic and health disparities across Washington

  • Eliminating nuclear weapons and promoting global peace

  • Building a healthier, more resilient, and equitable future for all

At the heart of our grassroots action are WPSR’s volunteer-led Task Forces, which empower members to drive change in key areas:

Volunteer Task Forces

Climate and Health Task Force
Advocates for strong climate action to protect human health, reduce air pollution, and build community resilience. Focus areas include air quality, climate-resilient health systems, clean energy, climate-mental health connections, and equitable transportation solutions.

Economic Inequity and Health Task Force:
Works to address the root causes of economic inequality that contribute to health disparities. The Task Force’s priorities include progressive taxation policies to fix our upside down tax code and housing justice policies that ensure safe, affordable housing for all.

Nuclear Weapons Abolition Task Force:
Promotes policies that prevent nuclear war and dismantle nuclear arsenals, with an emphasis on the health and humanitarian impacts of nuclear weapons. This task force engages in education, advocacy, and coalition-building to promote peace and security.

Who Can Join a Task Force?

Anyone who shares WPSR’s commitment to protecting health and promoting social responsibility is welcome to join. You do not need to be a physician or health professional — we invite advocates, students, scientists, and community members to bring their voice, expertise, and passion to our work.
