College & University Chapters in WA
University of Washington
WPSR is proud to have established a Registered Student Organization at the University of Washington, as student chapter of WPSR. The chapter is an organization welcoming students, faculty and staff from across the University who are concerned about the implications of existential threats to health, and promoting engagement of the academic community in education, advocacy, and activism that can further WPSR's mission while growing our movement in Washington, and inspiring health advocacy leaders of tomorrow. Pacific Northwest University
The Student Activist Coalition (SAC) at PNWU works closely with WPSR to keep students connected to what’s happening beyond campus. At PNWU, we share updates and highlight opportunities for involvement so students can engage with the work and goals of WPSR. Each year, PNWU supports the Health Justice Gala by helping organize student volunteers, giving students a chance to contribute to these efforts. SAC also shares information from the WPSR newsletter, including ways students can take action, such as submitting comments to legislators or participating in other advocacy opportunities.
Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) is a grassroots, non-profit health sciences university established in 2005 by a group of visionary community leaders in Washington’s fertile Yakima Valley PNWU offers five unique programs on a vibrant and rapidly expanding campus featuring students and faculty from multiple health sciences programs.
Washington State University
WPSR proudly collaborates with the WSU Elson Floyd College of Medicine in Spokane, WA. Our work with the school has included advocacy trainings for students, speaking events, and engagement opportunities in WPSR’s advocacy work for members of the WSU health education community. WPSR’s key partner at WSU is the Health Equity Circle.
Internships, Research & Practicum Opportunities
While WPSR does not offer formal internship opportunities, we welcome inquiries from students from diverse disciplines interested in the intersection of health, policy, advocacy, and the three core issues that we work on. Students and student teams frequently engage with us on projects of mutual benefit, and we encourage you to contact us about internship, practicum, research or other project-based opportunities. WPSR’s Emerging Leaders Program
WPSR is proud to offer an exciting annual opportunity, through the Dr. David Hall Emerging Leaders in Nuclear Weapons Abolition Program, to train a group of young people on the history of nuclear weapons and anti-nuclear activism while preparing them for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Hiroshima, Japan, site of the 1945 atomic bombing. The highlight of the program is a week-long visit to the city of Hiroshima which includes meeting with atomic bomb survivors, the Hibakusha, visiting the Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum, and participating in the August 6th commemoration of the bombing.
