Stop Climate and Plastics Pollution:

Say "No" to Fracked Gas in Kalama, WA

Governor Jay Inslee:

Images of plastic garbage floating in the ocean or birds mistaking bottle caps for food are devastating. Plastics pollution is another reason to oppose the world’s largest fracked gas-to-methanol refinery proposed in Kalama, WA.

By 2025, Kalama’s fracked gas-to-methanol refinery would be Washington’s #1 source of greenhouse gas pollution. And for what? Northwest Innovation Works claim it will export methanol to China to make plastics. We already have too much climate and plastics pollution.

As a nation, and as a world, we need to build infrastructure that sustains our communities for the next century, not pollutes it.

If you want to protect our climate and think the world has enough plastics pollution then I invite you to join me in speaking out against the Kalama methanol refinery.

Thank you,

Why should you add your voice?

  • If built, this single fracked gas-to-methanol refinery would consume more fracked gas every day than all households or all power plants in the state of Washington.
  • By 2025, the Kalama methanol refinery would be Washington’s number one cause of greenhouse gas pollution. And for what? Northwest Innovation Works claim it will export methanol to China to make plastics.
  • As a nation, and as a world, we need to build infrastructure that sustains our communities for the next century, not pollutes it. The focus of this year’s internationally-celebrated Earth Day is ending plastics pollution.
  • You have a major opportunity to block a key piece of the plastics supply chain by speaking out against the Kalama methanol refinery.
